A Paradigm Shift in Behavioral Brain Research

Currently, in order to conduct something that approximates the needed detailed and integrative behavioral/physiological/neurobiological study, our researchers need to rely on an awkward and unwieldy series of traditional behavioral mazes together with antiquated scientific monitoring tools. While this cumbersome and complicated way of running experiments has already confirmed the need for the shift towards a more integrative approach to behavioral/physiological/neurobiological studies, our current equipment limits our potential to move forward, and to lead in the field of animal models of brain disorders.
The MulBeSys system (behavioral microscope and monitoring system) will enable continuous, in-vivo analysis of activity and habitual behavior, social interaction, emotional behavior, cognitive performance, metabolism, physiology, and optoegenetic/electrophysiology in the social context of the animals. Such an automated, integrative, automated multi-arena system for rodents will allow our internationally recognized researchers to make a quantum leap in terms of our research and lead to a paradigm shift in translational brain disorder research.
